About The Position

Hawthorne House is seeking a Dietary Aide to support its food and nutrition program in Freeport, Maine. The Dietary Aide works alongside Dietary Managers and Cooks to prepare and serve meals and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment for residents. Training and support are provided, and no prior experience is necessary. The role may provide experience for future work in cooking, management, or clinical fields.

The posting offers per-diem or part-time work of up to 28 hours per week, with evening shifts from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekend shifts from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The hourly rate is $15.45–$18.45.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• No prior experience is necessary; training is provided.
• Job offers are contingent on receiving excellent references and passing the Maine State Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals, snacks, and beverages according to facility procedures.
• Serve residents while maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.
• Set up and take down dining areas.
• Assist with general kitchen maintenance.
• Help track kitchen supplies and food items.
• Stay current on facility protocols and state regulations.
