Dietary Aide/Food Service
About The Position
The Dietary Aide/Food Service assists with food preparation and service for hospital patients, residents, personnel, Meals-On-Wheels recipients, and guests. The role prepares appetizing food using methods that conserve nutritional value and serves patients according to modified diets specified by a dietician or Manager. The Dietary Aide also assists with dishwashing, cleans and sanitizes assigned work areas and equipment, and uses food economically. The position follows Infection Control policies for the Dietary Department and applies knowledge of diet planning to guide menu choices within dietary restrictions and basic Food Pyramid principles. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of diet planning and the ability to guide menu choices within dietary restrictions and basic Food Pyramid principles.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and food service for patients, residents, personnel, Meals-On-Wheels recipients, and guests.
- Prepare appetizing food using methods that conserve nutritional value.
- Serve patients according to modified diets listed by a dietician or Manager.
- Assist with dishwashing.
- Serve meals to patients, employees, and guests in a timely manner.
- Sanitize work areas and clean refrigerators and ovens as assigned.
- Sweep and scrub floors as assigned.
- Use food economically.
- Follow Infection Control policies pertaining to the Dietary Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
