About The Position

The Dietary Aide /Dishwasher participates as needed in preparing and serving appetizing, nourishing, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ daily nutritional and special dietary needs. The position also assists with dishwashing and cleaning tasks. The role supports food service operations while contributing to person-centered care in a senior living community.

Requirements

• One year of experience in an institutional food service setting is preferred.
• Basic understanding of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Understanding of person-centered care.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Working knowledge of and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Responsibilities

• Handle and store food according to facility procedures and safe food handling guidelines.
• Assist with food preparation as assigned by the supervisor.
• Prepare food items according to standardized recipes while following safe food handling practices.
• Use food supplies and equipment efficiently and economically to prevent waste.
• Operate institutional food preparation and cleaning equipment, including the dish machine, according to manufacturer and supervisory direction.
• Follow proper cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assist with setting up the food tray line or buffet dining.
• Assemble meals and trays for residents according to facility procedures.
• Participate as needed in preparing and serving meals that meet residents’ nutritional and special dietary needs.
• Assist with dishwashing and cleaning tasks.
