About The Position
The Diet Technician assists the Dietitian in providing nutrition services to a broad patient population. This includes helping patients make appropriate meal selections and arranging between-meal nourishments and special formulas according to individual needs. The role is onsite at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital-Cambridge and is per diem on the day shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good communication skills.
- High level of service delivery.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency.
Nice To Haves
- Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR/NDTR) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- 1–2 years of dietetic technician experience with multiple patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Dietitian in assessing nutritional needs by obtaining patients’ meal selections.
- Interview patients to identify food preferences and allergies.
- For registered dietetic technicians (DTRs), assess patient calorie counts and the percentage of food consumed; conduct meal rounds and monitor diet restrictions.
