About The Position

The Diet Office Representative works in the Food and Nutrition Services department at Texas Health Dallas. This is a fast-paced environment where the representative will be responsible for feeding an average of 450 patients per meal. The team is diverse and inclusive, focusing on exceptional patient care. The role requires excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills, the ability to assist patients with menu selections based on basic diet therapy, and performing various office tasks such as printing reports, processing requisitions, and entering menus. Maintaining food safety standards according to HACCP and department guidelines, ensuring a clean work area, and serving patient meals accurately and timely are also key responsibilities. The representative will also be responsible for returning to patient rooms to collect trays and confirm satisfaction, and adhering to hand hygiene, patient identification, and PPE requirements.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Req
  • 1 Year in food service position or applicable customer service Req
  • FHC - Food Handlers Certificate 30 Days Req

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills at point of service and in resolution of complaints/concerns/ questions.
  • Utilizes basic diet therapy training to assist patients in selecting correct menu items as needed.
  • Performs needed office tasks in an appropriate and timely manner. Prints reports, process requisitions and enter menus.
  • Maintains food safety requirements according to HACCP and department standards in the performance of all duties.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area, ensuring compliance with health department and facility requirements.
  • Serve patient meals, assist with set up and prepare snacks accurately and timely according to procedures.
  • Returns to the patient room within a reasonable period of time to pick up dirty tray and to confirm satisfaction with the patient.
  • Comply with hand hygiene, patient identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
