DIET CLERK (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Diet Clerk works under the direction of the Patient Services Manager and/or Clinical Nutrition Manager and is responsible for patient menu management, data collection, and diet office functions as needed. The role is based at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Full-time schedules vary by day and hours and include rotating weekends. Training is available. Responsibilities
- Distribute and collect menus.
- Assist patients with menu selections in compliance with prescribed diets, as assigned by a dietitian.
- Offer menu alternatives allowed by prescribed diets, taking into account food allergies or sensitivities and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences when patients inquire or need additional selections.
- Plan regular and modified menus based on the current diet manual.
- Prepare and distribute supplements, tube feedings, and enteral formula accurately and promptly.
- May prepare, distribute, inventory, and manage human/donor milk and/or infant formula.
- Follow facility confidentiality, HIPAA, and patient-rights policies.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and TJC standards.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and logs.
- Follow facility and department infection-control policies and procedures.
- Participate in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Programs and teams to improve processes and patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
