About The Position
SCMI1 is seeking a highly motivated professional to fill a vacant Diesel Technician role. The candidate will function in accordance with the equivalent responsibilities of an Engineering Technician V to provide technical assistance with inspecting and maintaining critical shipboard systems as directed by Navy Regional Maintenance Centers.
Requirements
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance.
- 5 to 7 years of experience operating and maintaining Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment.
- Direct knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, Navy Standard Items, and applicable Naval Ships’ Technical Manuals.
- Demonstrated experience performing Navy assessments and inspections.
- Ability to execute physical shipboard surveys in accordance with assigned division protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation pertaining to critical shipboard assessments.
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- MS Office suite proficiency required.
- Ability to use clear and concise oral and written communications.
- Associate’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field.
- Two additional years of specific experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
- Resume and candidacy subject to customer approval and acceptance.
- Must clear required background check.
Nice To Haves
- Have completed, or ability to complete, Diesel Engine Inspection course within two years of hire.
