Republic Services is hiring an entry-level Technician Apprentice to learn routine and preventive maintenance for diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. The two-year apprenticeship combines paid education and hands-on work experience, preparing apprentices for certification as an entry-level Diesel Mechanic and advancement to a Level C Technician. The program covers electrical diagnosis of starting and charging systems; air conditioning and heating components; wheel-end assemblies; air systems and air brakes; hydraulics; and truck preventive maintenance. Training begins with nine weeks of company-paid, in-person instruction at the Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by 22 months of on-the-job training, mentorship, and virtual instructor-led technical content. Apprentices receive direct supervision after placement in a business unit and gain practical experience through the Republic Preventative Maintenance Program and other assigned work. Training includes basic tire work, wheel-end components, mechanic skills, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Apprentices who demonstrate accelerated development and meet required milestones may advance to a Level C Technician before completing the full 22-month on-the-job period. The role is based at a permanent shop assignment in Ivyland, Pennsylvania, following the Dallas training period. The program is intended for someone who is a logical problem solver, interested in vehicle engineering and technology, and committed to ongoing learning and completing the two-year apprenticeship. The job posting states that training starts January 11, 2027.
