Diesel Technician Apprentice-paid Training

Republic Services•Dallas, TX

About The Position

Republic Services is hiring an entry-level Technician Apprentice for a two-year paid training program. Apprentices gain on-the-job experience while completing technician education and working toward certification as an entry-level Diesel Mechanic. The program begins with nine weeks of company-paid, in-person training at the Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by 22 months of on-the-job training, mentorship, and virtual instructor-led technical content. Apprentices may advance to a Level C Technician before completing the full 22 months if they demonstrate accelerated development and meet the required milestones. Training covers electrical diagnosis of starting and charging systems; identification and inspection of air conditioning and heating components, wheel-end assemblies, air systems, air brakes, and hydraulics; truck preventive maintenance; basic tire work; and related mechanic skills. Apprentices receive hands-on experience supporting their classroom learning while working in a Republic Services business unit. They receive direct supervision from a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Manager and support from a dedicated mentor. The program also includes leadership, life-skills, and wellness development and is intended to prepare apprentices for a long-term career with the company. Graduates receive guaranteed consideration for a full-time technician position with Republic Services. Apprentices must commit to completing the two-year program, be willing to travel to and live in Dallas for the initial nine weeks of in-person training, and be able to work a flexible schedule that may include some nights, weekends, or holidays.
