Diesel Shop Manager
About The Position
Leonard’s Express is seeking a proven Diesel Shop Manager to lead a high-performance diesel shop. This role involves managing day-to-day shop operations for a Class A truck & trailer facility, leading a team of technicians, and ensuring communication between maintenance and operations. The manager will be responsible for setting safety, quality, and professionalism standards, as well as managing scheduling, workflow, and performance metrics. This position also includes oversight of parts inventory, stock control, and purchasing decisions, and maintaining a clean and organized shop environment. The leadership in this role directly impacts fleet readiness, driver satisfaction, customer service, safety performance, and financial results.
Requirements
- Experience as a diesel shop manager or foreman (required)
- Strong leadership presence
- Ability to coach, train, and develop technicians
- Advanced knowledge of Class A heavy diesel trucks and reefer trailers
- Strong communication skills with drivers, techs, and operations
- Scheduling, workflow planning, and productivity management experience
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Excel
- Valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- Experience with TMT, TTP, or shop scheduling systems
- Technical schooling or ASE training
- CDL-A
