About The Position
North America Central is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair school buses and company vehicles, helping transport children safely. The position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 and hourly pay of up to $41.00 based on experience and certifications, with NASCB/ASE certification incentives of up to $5.00 per hour. A $750 boot, tool, and eyeglass allowance is also offered. The role is based in a shop or garage and bus yard, with occasional road support. The mechanic must be able to work early morning shifts, lift up to 40 pounds, crouch, bend, climb, and use hand tools. Candidates must pass a DOT physical and meet drug-free workplace requirements. Requirements
- At least 3 years of mechanical experience; diesel or heavy vehicle experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement, or ability to obtain it within 60 days.
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Ability to work early morning shifts.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, crouch, bend, climb, and use hand tools.
- Must pass a DOT physical and meet drug-free workplace requirements.

Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on school buses and company vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Complete preventative maintenance, brake work, tune-ups, and safety inspections.
- Test drive vehicles to verify repairs.
- Maintain accurate repair and parts records.
- Support and mentor teammates as skill level increases.
