Under general supervision, performs preventive maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses and repairs vehicles and equipment. This role involves working under limited supervision, selecting from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. The Diesel Mechanic will perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services, including inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment. They will utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes, estimate time and material costs, and requisition new parts. All work must be performed within Standard Repair Times (SRTs). The position also includes performing service calls for emergency breakdowns, conducting safety checks, and completing required paperwork using fleet maintenance software. Additionally, the Diesel Mechanic will assist senior Mechanics with project work and review/complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and following established safety procedures is crucial. This job has no supervisory duties.
