About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform essential maintenance duties. This role involves conducting repairs and maintenance on various equipment, including recycling equipment, compactors, and light trucks, to ensure safe and productive operations. WIN Waste Innovations is a waste management company dedicated to providing crucial waste management solutions to customers and communities. With a team of 2,300 employees, the company is committed to environmental preservation for future generations. It operates as a vertically integrated business with 50 strategically located assets, including waste-to-energy facilities, transfer stations, ash monofills, landfills, and fleets of rail cars and collection vehicles. Annually, WIN Waste Innovations processes over 11 million tons of waste, converting 6.7 million tons into clean, renewable energy for 340,000 homes, and recycles more than 234,000 tons of plastic, paper, and metals.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of (1) high school diploma or G.E.D. certification and 1 year of related equipment maintenance and repair; OR (2) 4 years of related equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Valid driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses mechanical problems.
  • Performs repairs and maintenance on light trucks, compactors and recycling equipment to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems, engines, balers and compactors.
  • Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
  • Overhauls or replaces blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps.
  • Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or equipment operators for clarification of problems and discusses preventive techniques with equipment users and vehicle drivers to minimize future repairs.
  • Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounts for applied times (work order times versus time card times).
  • Repairs and installs plumbing and electrical related item to hydraulic systems.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
