About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles and equipment at its Tucson, Arizona hauling site. The role works in a repair and maintenance shop and supports trucks and equipment serving WM customers. Mechanics use modern tools and procedures to maintain diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The schedule is Monday through Saturday, 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Starting pay is $24–$28 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
