Requirements
- Two or more years of diesel mechanic or related mechanical experience preferred
- Experience repairing commercial trucks and diesel engines
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrain components, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Strong attention to safety and DOT compliance
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks and diesel-powered equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and DOT-compliant fleet operations.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and engine performance issues
- Inspecting and repairing diesel engines used in commercial trucks
- Disassembling engines to identify worn or damaged components
- Rebuilding diesel engines and replacing defective parts
- Repairing or replacing pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, and related engine components
- Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
- Using precision measuring instruments and specialized diagnostic equipment
- Operating machine tools, engine lathes, and boring equipment
- Welding and cutting components using arc welding and flame cutting equipment when required
- Completing repair documentation accurately
- Ensuring all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards
- Working independently and as part of a professional maintenance team
