About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The role performs maintenance and repair work on vehicles, including heavy-duty vehicles, and uses diagnostic tools and equipment. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, with weekends off, on the first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pay is $24 per hour, with certification bonuses, quarterly bonuses, and additional earning opportunities. The position requires driving Ryder vehicles and obtaining a CDL within six months after hire, along with passing required tests and checks. Requirements

Basic tools are required.
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake work, and tire work.
Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire.
Must pass a Ryder drug test and DOT physical.
Must pass a Ryder road test.
Must pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.
Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience in the required experience preferred.
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
Perform standard vehicle maintenance.
Perform standard component inspections and repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using a diagnostic computer when applicable.
Identify root causes of basic failures or conditions and perform required repairs.
Replace defective components as instructed.
Perform facility maintenance duties.
Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints for assigned tasks.
Use key functions of the Shop Management System and available electronic documentation.
Work in accordance with applicable federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety, DOT, and MOT requirements.
Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.
