About The Position

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform most truck and trailer maintenance and repairs, ensuring equipment is available and in optimal operating condition. The mechanic works under minimal supervision and may receive assistance from other mechanics or supervisors for highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs. The position is based in Fort Morgan and has an anticipated night schedule of 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with potential overtime and a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to four years of mechanic, maintenance, or related experience.
• Mechanic certification, CDL license, or other relevant certifications or licenses may be required.
• Ability to read and understand driver inspection reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to provide and use personal hand tools appropriate for working on heavy equipment.
• Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Ability to pass a physical demands analysis.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests from drivers, the safety coordinator, DOT coordinator, shop foreperson, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager.
• Maintain and repair trucks and trailers to keep them in proper operating condition according to DOT specifications.
• Conduct periodic inspections, diagnose problems, and eliminate unsafe operating conditions.
• Perform annual vehicle inspections and admissions tests in compliance with state regulations.
• Operate arc and MIG welding equipment.
