About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Williston, Vermont. The role performs maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles, including heavy-duty vehicles. Technicians use diagnostic tools and equipment and may interact with customers or drivers to determine the nature of reported issues. The position includes a Monday–Friday mid-shift schedule, 11:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m., with weekends off. Pay is $32.50 per hour, with certification, quarterly, and sign-on bonuses described in the posting. Ryder provides medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual starting on Day 1; training; and other listed benefits. The role requires driving Ryder vehicles, and employees must obtain a CDL within six months after hire and pass required tests and checks.

Requirements

Basic tools are required.
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake work, and tire work.
Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire.
Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Vocational or technical certification.
Post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred.
Two or more years of a combination of classroom training and work experience in the required experience preferred.
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
Perform standard vehicle maintenance.
Perform standard component inspections and repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using a diagnostic computer when applicable.
Identify root causes of basic failures or conditions and perform repairs as required.
Replace defective components as instructed.
Perform facility maintenance duties.
Interact with customers or drivers to determine the nature of a complaint when assigned a task.
Use key functions of the Shop Management System and available electronic documentation.
Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety, DOT, and MOT requirements.
Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.
