About The Position

Metson Marine Services, Inc. (MMSI) is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to support marine and port operations. The role involves diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related equipment, maintaining vessels and facilities, and assisting with vessel operations and oil spill response activities. The mechanic works independently and as part of a team, supporting safe and effective operations while meeting company, customer, and safety requirements.

Requirements

Experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and mechanical equipment.
Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and lifting devices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a marine and port operations environment.
Willingness to participate in emergency response activities and support vessel operations as needed.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of marine diesel and gasoline engines.

Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and repair diesel engines and related equipment.
Inspect, troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery and equipment using hand tools, gauges, hoists, and diagnostic equipment.
Examine components for damage or excessive wear and replace defective parts, engines, and subassemblies, including pumps and transmissions.
Test repaired and overhauled equipment to verify proper operation and performance.
Perform minor and major repairs on marine diesel and gasoline engines, including Yanmar, Onan, and outboard engines.
Conduct preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment and vessels.
Perform tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of vessels, piers, and port facility common areas.
Serve on the Oil Spill Response Team and participate in response activities as required.
Assist as a member of a small boat crew and support the safe and efficient operation of vessels, crew members, and military personnel under the direction of the Coxswain.
Maintain compliance with company, customer, and safety requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned or required to support contract performance and operational needs.
