About The Position

County Waste has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Diesel Mechanic to join their growing team in Clifton Park, NY. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 2pm - 12:30am, with 50 to 55 hours per week and Saturdays as needed. The pay rate is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour, dependent on experience. As a key member of the automotive maintenance technicians team, the role focuses on the PMCS of equipment used in the transportation and handling of vehicles. This includes inspecting tires, break jobs, lube jobs, minor electrical and hydraulic repairs.

Requirements

Valid Driver's License
Schedule flexibility to work 2nd shift Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays
Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Welding/fabrication experience

Responsibilities

Providing preventative maintenance check services
Training with senior techs to further skill set
Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
Completing, or assigning minor repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Advise supervisor on larger repairs
Conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment
Performing service calls for emergency breakdowns
Maintaining a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
