The Automotive Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and upfitting automobiles, vans, buses, and fleet vehicles. Responsibilities are assigned according to the technician’s skill level, experience, certifications, and demonstrated competency. The role supports safe, reliable, and compliant vehicle operation while maintaining workmanship, productivity, and customer-service standards. Technicians progress through three levels. Technician I performs routine maintenance and basic repairs while developing diagnostic and technical skills with guidance from senior technicians. Technician II independently performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and moderate repairs, generally with minimal supervision. Technician III performs advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and fleet-service work and provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. The position is full-time, non-exempt, and reports to the Service Manager. Work schedules and work locations vary. It is safety-sensitive because the work involves maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and testing vehicles and equipment essential to safe operation. Employees may be subject to drug and alcohol testing under company policy and applicable law.
