About The Position

The Diesel Mechanic safely operates, repairs, rebuilds, and maintains company-owned or leased heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, including rolling stock, to ensure safe operation. The role maintains and repairs a waste and recycling fleet, performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks, including rear loaders, side loaders, front loaders, and roll-offs. The position is located at 10954 Houser Drive, Fredricksburg, Virginia, and pays $29–$40 per hour, with higher pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., with overtime after 40 hours worked.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience as a diesel technician or mechanic.
Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
Valid driver's license required.
Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Nice To Haves

Class A or B CDL, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment, including compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems.
Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
