The Diesel Mechanic examines vehicle damage, diagnoses and repairs diesel engines, inspects vehicle systems, maintains service and inventory records, and ensures vehicles meet applicable federal and state requirements.

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of vehicles, electrical systems, and diesel engine mechanisms.
Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics.
Comfort using mechanical and electrical power tools.
Welding experience.
Heavy truck diesel and fabrication experience.
Attention to detail.
Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

Thoroughly examine vehicle damage.
Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines, interpret results, and determine suitable solutions.
Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts.
Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
Analyze diagnostic test results.
Test engines and safety and combustion-control standards to comply with federal and state vehicle requirements.
Accept ownership of maintenance responsibilities, fulfill new requests, and explore opportunities to add value to work accomplishments.
Correct vehicle deficiencies.
