About The Position

Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and equipment. Diagnose mechanical issues, perform repairs, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of diesel-powered equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of previous related experience required.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a vocational or technical program in diesel technology or a related field is preferred.
Relevant certifications, such as those from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or specific manufacturers, can be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics of diesel engines, vehicles, and equipment to identify mechanical issues.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose problems accurately.
Analyze diagnostic reports and determine the necessary repairs or maintenance procedures.
Perform repairs on diesel engines, including engine overhauls, component replacements, and system repairs.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems in diesel-powered vehicles.
Diagnose and repair issues related to wiring, sensors, control modules, and other electrical components.
Follow a preventive maintenance schedule for diesel engines and equipment.
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of diesel-powered vehicles.
Maintain accurate work orders of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Identifying recurring issues and recommending solutions.
Communicate repair and maintenance needs to shop foreman or shop manager.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Adhere to environmental regulations and disposal procedures for hazardous materials.
