Diesel Mechanic/Technician (2189)
About The Position
Kooner Fleet Management Solutions is hiring a mobile, field-based mechanic/technician to perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light- and medium-duty vehicles. The technician will support customers in keeping their fleets on the road, including responding to emergency roadside service needs. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM. The role involves working independently at customer locations and in outdoor fleet environments, using specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient service. Technicians are provided a company service truck and fuel card, and are expected to maintain and inspect the truck and comply with safety requirements. Candidates must bring their own hand tools; the company supplies other equipment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on automotive or diesel technician experience working on light- or medium-duty vehicles.
- Strong communication skills when interacting with customers and drivers.
- Comfort using mobile apps, navigation systems, and digital tools to organize work and document repairs.
- Ability to work outdoors at customer yards in all weather conditions.
- Independence, dependability, and self-motivation.
- Positive attitude and safety-first mindset.
- Must be at least 23 years old, have a clean driving record, and hold a valid driver’s license.
- Must provide own hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Perform onsite preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light- and medium-duty vehicles in a mobile field environment.
- Handle emergency road service calls.
- Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled service or maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, brake, cooling, and air systems.
- Use handheld computers, precision instruments, and other diagnostic tools to identify and resolve vehicle issues.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to perform repairs.
- Road test vehicles to verify repair quality.
- Meet or beat industry-standard repair times.
- Work with vendors to source parts.
- Maintain the company-issued service truck, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure safety compliance.
- Support the team wherever needed.
