Requirements

• Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program
• Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment
• An equivalent combination of experience and training
• Possession of an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License
• Possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations on the first day of employment
• Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment
• Possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) within the probationary period
• Ability to perform essential job functions

Nice To Haves

• Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Restore and overhaul vehicles and equipment by replacing parts, adjusting systems, and diagnosing issues
• Complete routine maintenance programs to keep engines, hydraulics, cooling systems, and electrical components in good condition
• Conduct assigned safety and emissions inspections and prepare vehicles for compliance while completing required records
• Use tools and testing procedures to identify problems and select proper repair methods and parts
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace and report hazards, injuries, or damage immediately
• Make minor repairs and adjustments in the field to support safe and efficient operation
