About The Position

DaVita is looking for a Full-Time Dialysis Tech (PCT) to serve our patients at our Summit Renal Dialysis Center and Boettler/Green Dialysis in the Akron, OH area. This dialysis technician would be expected to work four 8-hour shifts (after training is completed) split between Summit Renal and Boettler Dialysis with the anticipation to also be able to work up to 12-hour shifts if patient census requires additional hours. Paid Training Provided! Some details about this position: Operational Hours: Mon-Sat 4:30am - 5:00pm, (must be available to work any shift during these hours). Summit Renal Clinic works with Braun machines, has 15 chairs and schedules 1 RN and 3 PCTs per shift. Boettler/Green works with Fresenius machines (currently open M/W/F). PCTs expected shifts for this clinic: 3-4 days/week with a minimum of two Saturdays/month and can be asked to start as early as 4:00 am. Hours of work may vary during the training period; however, you will typically be working between 32-40 hours per week during training. You must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Paid training: DaVita offers all new dialysis teammates a robust, paid training program to help you learn the right dialysis skills. The training is a mix of classroom and hands-on training. Reimbursement for your Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) license. Our PCTs also find DaVita professionally fulfilling. Training may take place in a facility or a training clinic with a class of new teammates other than your assigned home clinic.

Requirements

  • You are reliable (punctuality and attendance are crucial), great work ethic, love to learn, have a desire to help people, are looking for a career with a company you can grow with, are comfortable with early shifts and long hours on your feet, and love a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
  • Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
  • Flexibility and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet so wear comfortable shoes! Our work ends when it’s safe for our patients.
  • Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Health care experience preferred including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.

Responsibilities

  • Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment.
  • Care for up to 4-5 patients at a time.
  • In the morning, the opening PCT is coming in to get the water room ready and the bicarb for the patients.
  • Testing the water for chlorine, checking to make sure the tools are calibrated.
  • Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
  • Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
  • Work under the supervision of a RN.
