About The Position

The Dialysis Patient Care Technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed professional nurse to perform technical and patient care activities for dialysis patients. The technician delivers prescribed dialysis treatments according to physician orders, nursing assessments, and Pure Life Renal policies and procedures. The role includes operating dialysis and emergency equipment, documenting treatments, monitoring patients, and helping maintain a clean, safe treatment area. The position is per diem.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Successfully complete CPR certification.
Meet the requirements of the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Dialysis experience is preferred but not required.
Obtain hemodialysis technician certification through a nationally accepted certification exam within 18 months of hire; Pure Life Renal prefers certification within 12 months and will help employees obtain it.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to assigned patients.
Perform technical aspects of prescribed dialysis procedures and administer and monitor treatments according to current treatment orders or supervisor direction.
Document dialysis treatment notes in the electronic medical record according to policy.
Report significant information, changes in patient condition, and equipment problems.
Assist with emergency operational procedures, respond to emergencies, and initiate basic CPR in the event of cardiac or pulmonary arrest.
Operate dialysis-related equipment and emergency equipment according to policy and procedure, and perform minor troubleshooting when necessary.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary treatment area.
Participate in scheduled staff meetings, in-service classes, and continuing education.
Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers and maintain effective relationships through appropriate, timely communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.
