About The Position

This is an open-pooled position for a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist, with the potential to be filled at either the I or II level based on applicant qualifications. The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist I independently performs routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures of moderate complexity and assists physicians. The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist II is an experienced technologist who performs routine to complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures of high difficulty, acts as a mentor and trainer, and exercises sound judgment on challenging procedures. Both roles are members of the direct patient care team, provide exceptional patient care, adhere to established standards and guidelines, and ensure patient safety and customer service.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program (Technologist I).
  • 0+ years of experience (Technologist I).
  • American Heart Association (BLS) (Technologist I & II).
  • American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-OB/GYN) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- AB) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-RVT) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-PS) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-MSKS) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- BR) (Technologist I).
  • Associates of Applied Science (Technologist II).
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Technologist II).
  • 3+ years of experience (Technologist II).

Responsibilities

  • Independently complete a variety of routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of moderate complexity (Technologist I).
  • Provide direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special ultrasound procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and adhere to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.
  • Complete a variety of routine to complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of high difficulty (Technologist II).
  • Serve as a mentor and trainer to the Ultrasound Technologist I and students (Technologist II).
  • Exercise sound judgment and execute above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures (Technologist II).
  • Promote a positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with all members of the patient care team.
  • Guide and mentor Ultrasound Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities.

  • Utilize active communication and report pertinent patient care information in a comprehensive manner.

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of high complexity.
  • Optimize protocols to provide better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation and technical factors.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
  • Utilize AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANGAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.
  • Follow safety standards and conduct all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures.
  • Comply with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
  • Identify LEAN opportunities and WASTE, providing recommendations, and contribute to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
  • Report near misses and input errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
