Requirements

  • US Citizenship required
  • Radiology Certification: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes: performing diagnostic mammography studies; assisting with performing breast biopsies; maintaining patients examination records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs a complex and diverse array of screening and diagnostic mammography examinations.
  • Performs a variety of challenging mammographic examinations with associated quality assurance and quality control measures.
  • Manages patient schedules within the Medical Health System.
  • Assists the Radiologist(s) and other Health Care Providers needle localizations, breast ultrasound studies and other related breast health examinations.
  • Coordinates imaging for and assists the radiologist and radiology residents in the performance of image guided biopsy, pre-operative wire and seed localization, and post processing images for interpretation.
  • Collects, files, and maintains documentation related to the performance of mammograms and resulting studies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
