This role involves managing and operating cash handling operations for retail, including processing various payment methods like personal checks, debit/credit cards, and traveler's checks, in accordance with NAVSUP P-487 and NEXCOM directives. The position requires accountability for all collected funds, verification of identification for non-cash payments, and the operation of a multi-function cash register, credit card terminal, and computer to process sales and provide change. Daily reconciliation of receipts and cash balances is essential. The role also includes responsibilities for the security of cash, receipts, and property, as well as merchandise handling such as loading/offloading, pricing, stocking, and displaying products. Maintaining sanitation and security standards, printing and attaching barcode labels, and adhering to 'First In, First Out' (FIFO) procedures for merchandise are also key duties. Physical inventory counts are conducted according to NAVSUP P-487 to manage stock levels, with monthly inventory checks for 'Never-Out' items. The position requires assisting and interacting with customers and other store services, and performing other related duties as assigned.
