About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the Antenna crew, ensuring the mechanical integrity of antenna systems through regular inspections and component replacements. The technician will assist in repairs and maintenance of various antenna types and associated equipment, ensuring they are safe, fully functional, and operational for maximum lifespan. This includes working with transmission lines, cables, connectors, and support structures according to maintenance manuals. The position also involves supervising work in progress, ensuring quality and quantity of output, and enforcing safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge and technical experience with antenna outside plant equipment, erection equipment, and standard safety procedures.
  • Experience in the use of hand tools or potential to be trained on the job for journeyman-level work.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Mechanically inclined in the use of hand tools.
  • No color blindness.
  • Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with license codes (B, B1, B2, C, D).
  • Must be able to operate assigned vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Must be able to drive a Manual & Automatic Transmission.

Nice To Haves

  • Ensures all antenna maintenance personnel receives a Radio Frequency Radiation Hazards safety training course before the performance of any antenna-related work.
  • Ensures personnel is physically capable of climbing the antenna structure and working aloft.
  • Electrical Safety Training.
  • Adult CPR/AED Training from American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

  • Assigning and directing the work of the Technician and the Antenna crew.
  • Ensuring the mechanical integrity of antenna systems by periodic inspection/maintenance and replacing deteriorated components.
  • Assisting in repairs and maintaining various types of antennas (e.g., Inverted Cones, Conical Monopole, HTOA, Hermes Loop Array, AFRTS, R-Site Building 201, VOBA, Spiral Cone, Horizontally Polarized Log-Periodic, HOBA, RLPA).
  • Performing repairs on cables, wires, connectors, and splices, and installing fittings, shackles, thimbles, and swivels on cables.
  • Supervising work in progress and completion, ensuring proper quality and quantity of output.
  • Performing inspection, maintenance, and repair of antennae and associated equipment (coupler and transmission line) to ensure safety, functionality, and operational readiness.
  • Inspecting and maintaining transmission line cables and connectors for corrosion, electrolysis, breaks, and deterioration.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
