About The Position

As a Software Engineer III on JPMorganChase’s Corporate Investment Bank Payments Technology team, you will serve as a seasoned member of an agile team, designing and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will develop and support CI/CD and release automation for Payments platforms, contribute to technology solutions across business functions, and help advance the firm’s business objectives. The role includes creating production code and automation, developing architecture and design artifacts, and using CI/CD telemetry to improve software delivery and reliability. You will support delivery tooling such as Jenkins and Spinnaker, embed cybersecurity controls into pipelines, and use enterprise-authorized AI coding-assistance tools responsibly. The position also involves collaborating with engineering and cybersecurity teams and contributing reusable automation patterns and practices.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective use.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, with strong hands-on Groovy and Bash scripting capabilities.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI solutions, including Jenkinsfiles, shared libraries, credentials usage, and agent execution patterns.
  • Experience with continuous delivery tooling, including Spinnaker pipeline configuration, deployments, environment promotion, and rollback patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, networking concepts, monitoring and logging, and encryption and secrets patterns.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database querying languages.
  • General knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies and practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline, such as cloud.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to cloud technologies; deep AWS experience in multi-account and/or regulated environments is a plus.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration such as Docker, Kubernetes, or EKS, and progressive delivery practices such as blue/green or canary.
  • Experience integrating security and quality gates into CI/CD, such as SAST/SCA, artifact signing, SBOM, and policy checks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, with a focus on CI/CD and release automation for Payments platforms.
  • Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms and automation, including Jenkins pipelines, shared libraries, and shell scripts for build, test, and deployment.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring software code meets design constraints, including pipeline patterns, deployment strategies, and environment promotion approaches.
  • Analyze and visualize diverse data sets and CI/CD telemetry, such as build times, failure rates, deployment success, and rollback frequency, to improve software and systems.
  • Use insights to reduce pipeline flakiness, improve reliability, and standardize reusable automation.
  • Contribute to software engineering communities and events exploring DevOps, cloud-native delivery, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI coding-assistance tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity; validate generated outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Apply SDLC toolchain capabilities, including AI-assisted development and automation, to improve the value realized through automation.
  • Support end-to-end operational stability of delivery tooling, including applicable Jenkins and Spinnaker administration and operations, incident triage, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and engineering teams to embed pipeline controls such as secrets handling, least-privilege access, approvals, and auditability for regulated Payments workloads.
