About The Position

As a Software Engineer III on JPMorganChase’s Corporate Investment Bank Payments Technology team, you will work as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver secure, stable, and scalable technology products. The role focuses on CI/CD and release automation for Payments platforms, including building and maintaining Jenkins pipelines and supporting continuous delivery with Spinnaker. You will develop production code and automation, create architecture and design artifacts, use delivery telemetry to guide improvements, and support the operational stability of delivery tooling. You will also partner with cybersecurity and engineering teams to embed security controls in pipelines for regulated Payments workloads, and use enterprise-authorized AI coding tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine generated output for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective use.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages and strong hands-on capability with Groovy and Bash shell scripting for automation.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI solutions, including Jenkinsfiles, shared libraries, credentials usage, and agent execution patterns.
  • Experience with continuous delivery tooling, including Spinnaker pipeline configuration, deployments, environment promotion, and rollback patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud security fundamentals, such as IAM, networking, monitoring and logging, encryption, and secrets patterns.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database querying languages.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline such as cloud.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to cloud technologies; deep AWS experience in multi-account and/or regulated environments is a plus.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS, and progressive delivery practices such as blue/green or canary deployments.
  • Experience integrating security and quality gates into CI/CD, such as SAST/SCA, artifact signing, SBOM, and policy checks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, execute, and troubleshoot software solutions, particularly CI/CD and release automation for Payments platforms.
  • Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms and automation, including Jenkins pipelines, shared libraries, and shell scripts for build, test, and deployment.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure software meets design constraints, including pipeline patterns, deployment strategies, and environment promotion approaches.
  • Analyze and visualize diverse data sets and CI/CD telemetry to support continuous improvement.
  • Identify problems and patterns, then improve coding hygiene, pipeline reliability, and reusable automation.
  • Contribute to engineering communities of practice and events exploring emerging technologies, modern DevOps, cloud-native delivery, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI coding tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity; validate their output through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices, and share reusable learnings.
  • Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value of automation.
  • Support the operational stability of delivery tooling, including Jenkins and applicable Spinnaker administration and operations, incident triage, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and engineering teams to embed controls such as secrets handling, least-privilege access, approvals, and auditability in pipelines for regulated Payments workloads.
