About The Position

ASCO's Information Technology Department is seeking a DevOps Intern to collaborate within a fast-paced, agile environment that utilizes Amazon Web Service, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. This internship offers a chance to make a meaningful contribution to ASCO while gaining valuable hands-on experience developing infrastructure as code and DevOps skills. The internship is 10 weeks long, from June 8, 2026, to August 14, 2026, with a work schedule of 37.5 hours per week. This is a paid internship at $20/hour, with additional benefits such as parking or a metro subsidy. The position is based in Alexandria, VA, requiring mostly onsite work with some offsite flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program
Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
Ability to responsibly and effectively adapt AI into daily routine
Experience with Infrastructure as Code
Familiarity with applications such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform
Experience writing code
Familiarity with version control and code repository tools
Working knowledge of ticketing systems like Atlassian Jira or similar is a bonus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
Willingness to enhance skills and learn from mistakes

Responsibilities

Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to develop and support developer environments
Collaborate with department interns to further develop our environments
Create documentation for all work
Responsibly utilize AI in as many tasks as necessary to increase efficiency and decrease workload
Effectively communicate with developers and users when creating their environments to gather requirements
Utilize security tools to meet compliance
