Intern, DevOps Engineer, IT Infrastructure
About The Position
Join the SoFi IT Infrastructure Engineering team as a DevOps Engineering Intern this summer! This is an adventure where we focus on bringing new solutions to old problems while developing products and delivering value to our customers. Our team is broken into 4 major components: DevOps (product), SRE (focus on Highly Available systems, Resiliency, Automation), Security (Zero Trust and Perimeter), and End Point (User Devices). We are a highly collaborative organization focused on implementing good fundamentals and engineering practices. As a SoFi DevOps Engineering Intern, you will be working as a full-time member of our Engineering team, focused every day on building products and features that fulfill our mission to help our members get their money right. You will be embedded on an agile DevOps team and help with identifying opportunities to eliminate/automate operational tasks. You will also contribute to the design, development, and deployment of new products and features.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027
- Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship
- Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)
- Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco HQ office
- Some experience writing Python and Gitlab/Terraform knowledge in a non-academic setting (internship, research roles, relevant projects, etc.)
- Solid understanding DevOps fundamentals and how to apply them in a coding environment
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems architecture
- Ability to quickly learn new languages and adopt new technologies, methods and processes in a fast-paced work environment
- Intellectual curiosity and an affinity for solving problems
Responsibilities
- Write, test, and deploy efficient, scalable code to production that impacts millions of SoFi members
- Design, develop, code, and test software systems, improvements, products, and user-facing experiences
- Work with multiple languages and frameworks including: Python, Terraform, Gitlab
- Directly contribute to standard methodologies, architecture, and implementation
- Translate user stories into technical solutions
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Contribute to SoFi’s library of automated tests and overall testing infrastructure
- Work alongside DevOps Engineers, doing state-of-the-art development work
- Learn about new technologies, tools and processes that will build your skill set and help shape your career
- Present your summer project and work to SoFi’s senior leadership team
