About The Position

One of TEKsystems' clients, a large global eCommerce organization, is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Toronto-based engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on platform professional who thrives in cloud-native environments and enjoys building scalable, reliable, and automated infrastructure that enables engineering teams to move faster. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms while partnering closely with software engineering teams to improve developer productivity, operational excellence, and platform reliability. You will play a key role in advancing automation initiatives, Infrastructure-as-Code practices, CI/CD capabilities, and observability across a large-scale cloud ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Expert-level experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Advanced experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
  • Strong understanding of Linux administration, networking concepts, and SRE fundamentals
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines in modern cloud environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Amazon Bedrock and/or Amazon SageMaker
  • Programming or automation experience with Go and/or Python
  • Observability and monitoring experience using Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch
  • Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and support scalable cloud infrastructure within AWS environments.
  • Build, manage, and optimize Kubernetes platforms (EKS preferred) supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform.
  • Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and platform operations.
  • Implement automation and self-service capabilities that improve efficiency and developer experience.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to improve operational excellence and incident management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build and support cloud-native applications.
  • Participate in system design discussions and contribute to platform architecture decisions.
  • Champion best practices in cloud operations, security, scalability, and observability.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $62.00/hr.
