About The Position
Join Esri’s ArcGIS Online group (Azure) to help operate and improve a SaaS mapping platform used by organizations around the world. You will work with SREs, DevOps engineers, and development teams to maintain cloud infrastructure and create deployment capabilities for hosted services. The platform uses modern container infrastructure running Kubernetes and operates across cloud providers, regions, and environments.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of software development or DevOps engineering experience.
- Administration experience using scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.
- Experience with scripting automation using Python, Ruby, or Golang, and tools such as Puppet or Chef.
- Good understanding of the web and its protocols and technologies.
- Firm grasp of version control concepts and build systems.
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience with web servers such as Jetty, Tomcat, or IIS.
- Understanding of web technologies, HTTP, networking, security, scaling, and cloud-native architecture.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technology field.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of a cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum.
- Knowledge of CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, Travis, or CircleCI.
- Experience building deployment tools.
- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technology field.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with SREs and DevOps engineers to operate SaaS capabilities across multiple cloud providers and regions.
- Design, implement, and maintain operational components of the ArcGIS Online hosted services platform, which uses Kubernetes-based container infrastructure.
- Create deployment tools, scripts, and components for deploying applications to cloud platforms across environments at global scale with zero downtime.
- Build scalable, efficient cloud infrastructure that can be monitored with automated system health checks, Prometheus, and cloud monitoring tools.
- Work with development teams to improve application build, test, and deployment workflows.
