About The Position

Join Esri’s ArcGIS Online group (Azure), a product used by thousands of organizations around the world. As a DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate with colleagues to build and maintain deployment tools for Esri’s SaaS products. The work supports Esri’s cloud-based mapping platform and its use in areas such as infrastructure maintenance, natural resource management, and disaster response.

You will work with site reliability engineers and DevOps engineers to operate SaaS capabilities across multiple cloud providers and regions. The role focuses on operational components of the ArcGIS Online hosted services platform, which uses modern container infrastructure running Kubernetes, and on building scalable cloud infrastructure and deployment capabilities across global environments.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of software development or DevOps engineering experience.
• Administration experience using scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.
• Experience with scripting automation using Python, Ruby, or Golang, and tools such as Puppet or Chef.
• Good understanding of the web and its protocols and technologies.
• Firm grasp of version control concepts and build systems.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins.
• Experience with web servers such as Jetty, Tomcat, or IIS.
• Understanding of web technologies, HTTP, networking, security, scaling, and cloud-native architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technology field.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of a cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum.
• Knowledge of CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, Travis, or CircleCI.
• Experience building deployment tools.
• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technology field.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of SREs and DevOps engineers to operate SaaS capabilities across multiple cloud providers and regions.
• Design, implement, and maintain operational components within the ArcGIS Online hosted services platform, which uses Kubernetes-based container infrastructure.
• Create deployment tools, scripts, and components to deploy applications to cloud platforms across different environments globally with zero downtime.
• Build scalable, efficient cloud infrastructure that can be monitored using automated system health checks, including Prometheus and cloud monitoring tools.
• Work with development teams to improve application build, test, and deployment workflows.
