About The Position

The Developmental Technician, Facility Services HVAC/R, supports the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across multiple facilities. This role involves completing required documentation, assisting with scopes of work, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing preventive maintenance under supervision. The technician collaborates with management and team members to prioritize tasks, ensure regulatory compliance, and identify improvement opportunities. Commitment to safety, cost control, and effective communication is essential to support operational excellence and contribute to the reliable functioning of facility systems. The team manages all HVACR operations within the facility, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and meets regulatory standards. They coordinate maintenance, repairs, and inspections while adhering to EPA and safety policies. Focused on continuous improvement, the team evaluates new technologies and provides expert guidance. Collaboration and resource management are key to maintaining system reliability and compliance. Team members contribute to training efforts and uphold high-quality standards to support business goals and customer satisfaction. Their technical expertise and problem-solving skills are essential for sustaining smooth facility operations.

Requirements

  • Experience performing HVAC/R maintenance, repairs, and preventive services following established policies and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to complete and submit required documentation, including work orders, refrigerant logs, and expense vouchers.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations related to HVAC/R work.
  • Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and addressing HVAC/R equipment issues, including rooftop units and energy management systems.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with management, coworkers, customers, and business partners.
  • Strong communication skills to report progress and recommend improvements.
  • Adaptability to learn from feedback and manage multiple facility locations.
  • Hold and maintain Universal or Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification of at least one year.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related area for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Complete and submit required documentation such as expense vouchers, refrigerant logs, and work orders to senior leadership.
  • Assist in gathering capital expenditure lists and develop scopes of work for HVAC/R and energy management system updates.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and troubleshooting on HVAC/R equipment under supervision.
  • Collaborate with management, coworkers, and business partners to identify priorities, deadlines, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations by following safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage company vehicles by coordinating maintenance, inspections, and documentation.
  • Communicate progress effectively and adapt to feedback and changing work conditions.
