About The Position

The Developmental Technician, Facility Services HVAC/R, supports facility operations by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on HVAC/R and energy management systems. This role involves collaborating with management and business partners to identify priorities, complete work assignments, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The technician assists in developing scopes of work, managing documentation, and controlling costs through effective resource use. Adaptability, communication, and continuous improvement are essential to successfully maintaining equipment and supporting facility services across multiple locations. The team provides HVAC and refrigeration support across multiple locations, ensuring equipment operates efficiently while meeting safety and environmental standards. They collaborate with management and business partners to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, and deliver timely service. Responsible for managing resources such as parts inventory and refrigerant levels, the team adheres to industry regulations and company policies. Committed to continuous improvement, they support business objectives by offering reliable solutions and maintaining strong partnerships to effectively meet operational and customer needs.

Requirements

  • Experience performing HVAC/R maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ability to complete and submit required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, including rooftop units, compressors, and energy management controls.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with management, coworkers, and business partners.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly.
  • Willingness to adapt to change and learn from feedback.
  • Understanding of cost control through price comparisons and warranty claim submissions.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles safely.
  • Hold and maintain Universal or Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
  • EPA 608 Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related area for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and submit required documentation including expense vouchers, refrigerant logs, and work orders to senior leadership.
  • Assist in gathering capital expenditure data and develop scopes of work for HVAC/R and energy management system updates.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on HVAC/R equipment under supervision, following established policies and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with management, coworkers, and business partners to identify priorities, communicate progress, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations while maintaining company vehicles and equipment according to policy.
  • Support cost control by conducting price comparisons and submitting warranty claims.
