About The Position

National Machinery is seeking eager individuals to join their innovative team through a one-year, hands-on training program designed to help participants build real skills and begin a long-term career with a stable, well-established company. The company has been successfully operating for over 150 years and continues to grow by investing in its people. This is a full-time, entry-level position that will rotate through three machining departments and a classroom setting to learn the operation and set-up of various machining tools on CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts efficiently and effectively. The program aims to prepare trainees for a Machinist position by mastering necessary skills and knowledge, successfully completing assessments, and performing other assigned duties.

  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Good mechanical and mathematical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented and able to actively participate and work in a team environment
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/technical education preferred
  • Any Familiarity with computers
  • Ability to use and understand metric and standard measurements
  • Basic understanding of machining concepts (turning, milling, drilling, grinding)
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Fundamental math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry
  • Awareness of shop safety practices and proper use of PPE
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Machine parts to specifications following instructions, drawings, blueprints and specifications
  • Perform set-ups and machining operations on machines capable of milling, grinding, turning and boring or similar equipment
  • Provide quality assurances of meeting company specifications
  • Grow in machining knowledge and skills in preparation for a Machinist position
  • Successfully complete each assessment and/or test in each training block
  • Other duties as assigned
