The Development Services Representative I coordinates the permit process and provides customer service to the public, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and others in person at the counter, over the telephone, and via the Internet. This role involves assisting customers with development permit applications, receiving, logging, and routing plans and reports, and researching the completion of application packages. The representative provides general planning, zoning, and building permit processing information, including projected time frames for plan review, and tracks and monitors the status of plan reviews for internal and external customers. They serve as a primary contact for telephone, online, and in-person requests, retrieving data, answering questions, and offering clerical support. The position requires cross-training with other areas involved in private development plan review, permitting, and inspections. Responsibilities also include utilizing Department software to enter permit information, assisting customers with online permit applications at public kiosks, verifying application completeness, managing uploaded files for appropriate system formatting, compiling permit fee information, and issuing development permits. Additionally, the role processes Certificates of Occupancy, Certificates of Completion, and temporary certificates, maintains accurate records for final retention of applications and related documents, conducts research for public records, responds to information requests, prepares City Hall for the business day, and assists with fire-related duties.
