About The Position

The Development Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of funders and successfully securing funding that supports organizational/programmatic goals and strategies, and building and maintaining relationships with current/prospective funders. This role involves conducting prospect research on foundation funders and prospects for general operating and project support, and reporting for various fundraising and funder needs.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in Development.
  • 2-4 years of demonstrated success in foundation, corporate, and/or government grant-seeking.
  • 2-4 years of prospect research experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience using a CRM system.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to synthesize complex ideas and activities into coherent and compelling narratives.
  • Skilled relationship builder.
  • Strong project and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, create order, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Skill in creating compelling presentations and using data to inform funder communications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to balance and prioritize multiple deadline-driven projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - highly adaptable and nimble with changing organizational needs and the prospect of new opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, manage, solicit and steward a portfolio of funders for general operating and project support.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify and vet funders for general operating and project support.
  • Work with Content, Finance/Accounting, Director of Institutional Advancement and community partners to build out project concepts and budgets that support organizational strategies and address funder priorities.
  • Write LOIs, proposals to secure general operating and priority project funding.
  • Track all communications with and solicitations of funders in shared organizational tools.
  • Contribute to overall team and department revenue goals.
  • Develop and execute funder engagement strategies that support short- and long-term funding relationships.
  • Manage funder recognition for assigned accounts.
  • Manage information gathering, writing and production of required reports.
  • Collaborate with current/prospective community partners to advance shared goals.
  • Create compelling, data-infused and impact-focused communication for prospective and current funders, reflecting philanthropic priorities and concerns.
  • Collaborate with Evaluation Team to collect key data of relevance to funders, legislators and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Finance on tailored budgets, grant tracking, reporting, and other compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of TPT programming and priorities by developing strong relationships with key TPT content leaders.
  • Participate as an active member of the Advancement and Institutional Giving Teams.
  • Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities, strategy development, problem solving, and trend identification.
