Development Manager

Bottomline is seeking a Development Manager in Bangalore with at least 5 years of experience in product development. The Development Manager will be responsible for directing the activity of team leaders within a specific area of the engineering function. They will manage subordinate staff, define objectives and work plans, and ensure project milestones are met. The Development Manager will also provide innovative solutions to complex problems, oversee product delivery, and mentor team members. The ideal candidate will have experience in building multi-tier cloud applications using Java/J2EE, Oracle, and OO technologies.

• Direct the activity of team leaders within a group or specific area within the engineering function
• Manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs
• Define objectives and work plans and determine modes of employing resources to attain objectives and meet schedules
• Serve as a professional authority for subordinate employees with regard to problem-solving and schedule-meeting schedules
• Analyze and investigate applications engineering tasks, and prepare design specifications, analysis, and recommendations
• Provide innovative solutions to complex problems and communicate progress toward project/program goals
• Oversee the delivery of products within budget, schedule, and quality guidelines
• Create schedules and work plans and reach appropriate resolution in many varied situations
• Develop and provide challenging yet appropriate assignments, evaluate work, communicate progress toward career development and goals
• Champion global team collaboration at peer level to ensure local team is engaged on business priority deliverables, make responsible commitment and consolidate their feedback on team performance
• Interface with senior management to report on project and program milestones and to present project progress report
• Guide and mentor team members to deliver high-quality design and code
• Lookout for latest server-focused technology trends and standards
• Responsible for career development/planning, performance discussions of team members

• 5+ years of experience in product development in building multi-tier cloud applications/platform using Java/J2EE, Oracle, and OO technologies
• Hands-on experience using Java and related technologies
• Ability to analyze and investigate applications engineering tasks and prepare design specifications, analysis, and recommendations
• Experience managing a medium-size group/project
• Ability to provide innovative solutions to complex problems and communicate progress toward project/program goals
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs
• Ability to define objectives and work plans and determine modes of employing resources to attain objectives and meet schedules
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to reach appropriate resolutions in varied situations
