About The Position

Community Development Long Island (CDLI) is the only full-service collection of community development entities that change Long Islanders lives for success in home creation and financial growth. CDLI supports these achievements on the individual and community level by offering innovative solutions and resources to achieve personal and community economic growth. The Development Coordinator supports CDLI’s fundraising and partnership efforts, with a focus on assisting in the growth and stewardship of private funding relationships. This role will help manage day-to-day engagement with existing funders—particularly financial institutions—and support efforts to identify and cultivate new funding opportunities. This is an execution-focused role ideal for someone who is developing their career in fundraising, partnerships, or nonprofit development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or a related field
  • 1-3+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, partnerships, or related field
  • Passionate ambassador for CDLI’s mission, with the ability to connect authentically with partners, cultivate relationships, and confidently engage in networking environments
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
  • Interest in relationship-building and external engagement
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Support relationship management for existing funders, including banks and corporate partners
  • Help coordinate and execute funder engagement opportunities, including volunteer activities and events
  • Assist in maintaining regular communication, updates, and engagement opportunities
  • Schedule, organize and coordinate logistics for funder meetings, volunteer events, and site visits
  • Help ensure a positive and consistent experience for funders
  • Support fundraising and driving attendance to our Annual Luncheon
  • Conduct research to identify new prospective private funders (corporate, foundation, and institutional)
  • Maintain and update prospect lists and pipeline tracking tools
  • Support outreach and early-stage cultivation efforts, including drafting introductory materials
  • Assist with the launch annual giving campaign and other new campaigns for individual donors
  • Lead of acknowledgement and stewardship process
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications
  • Draft funder communications, reports, and marketing materials
  • Gather program information, data, and budgets from internal teams
  • Support development of materials that showcase CDLI’s impact
  • Track relationship touchpoints, proposal submissions, deadlines, and reporting requirements
  • Assist in preparing funder reports and communications
  • Maintain accurate records in development databases and files
  • Support overall organization and administration of development activities
