About The Position

The Development Coordinator is a crucial member of the Philanthropy team and is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of mid-level donors as well as several key development programs, including the Crisis Nursery Sustainers Circle. This role is community-facing, responsible for meeting with donors, attending community events, and providing tours. The position assists with grant research and solicitation, as well as event sponsorship solicitations. The Development Coordinator works closely with the Director of Philanthropy to ensure that the Philanthropy team meets department goals and fulfills the philanthropic needs of the agency. The duties and responsibilities associated with this position may evolve as the needs of the Philanthropy department and the agency change, making the ability to work in a flexible, ever-changing environment essential.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Service, Development, Business Administration, Sales or a similar related field is required.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience working in the fund development and/or fundraising field in a similar capacity is required.
  • Driving is an essential function of this job. As such, employees in this position will be required to furnish their own vehicle to be used in the course of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license and minimum insurance coverage is also required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Able to report to work on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Experience in fund development including grant solicitations, seeking event sponsorships and conducting donor solicitations and meetings.
  • Experience with public speaking, making presentations and leading meetings.
  • Ability to operate independently, with excellent project management skills and follow-through as well as being an active member of the team.
  • Ability to be proactive in creative problem solving, while maintaining the integrity and core values of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as exhibited by the ability to easily convey, whether through written word, public speaking, or electronic media, the needs and goals of the department and Agency.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including individual supporters, corporate donors and Board members.
  • Advanced level skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT, Greater Giving and Online Express.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Philanthropy on key philanthropic priorities to achieve the philanthropic goals of the agency.
  • Assist Director of Philanthropy with donor related outreach, including making donor requests, attending community events, speaking on behalf of the agency and providing facility tours.
  • Assist Director of Philanthropy in securing event sponsorships, in-kind donations, and in-kind services for the organization.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to implement the Philanthropy department’s digital fundraising plan through email campaigns, social media and other digital platforms, identifying new digital fundraising opportunities as they arise.
  • Oversee the Crisis Nursery Sustainers Circle Program and ensure donor retention and continued growth of this monthly giving program.
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to identify new creative opportunities to raise funds for the three highest needs programs – the Crisis Nursery, Residential Program and Family Resource Centers.
  • Assist Director of Philanthropy with the identification, writing and editing of corporate and foundation grant proposals.
  • Oversee a portfolio of corporate and foundation grants.
  • Conduct grant research to identify new funding opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and funding needs.
  • Attend and participate in other SCH activities as required.
  • Attend and/or work evening and weekend events as needed.
