About The Position

This is a hybrid position, with proximity to Charlottesville, VA, and an expectation of at least three days in office per week. The Development Coordinator provides high-level programmatic and administrative support for TNC-Virginia’s Development team, including streamlining operations and coordination across high-priority fundraising, event, and program initiatives, and fundraising engagement activities and strategies. This role collaborates closely with the Director of Development, the Development Operations team, and cross-functional teams, serving as a resource for fundraisers and program leaders. The Coordinator will help manage complex calendars, communications, and special projects, supporting the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience with calendar management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience coordinating projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts, and solving problems.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program.
  • Must meet the requirements of The Nature Conservancy's background screening process.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-level programmatic and administrative support for TNC-Virginia’s Development team.
  • Streamlines operations and coordination across high-priority fundraising, event, and program initiatives, and fundraising engagement activities and strategies.
  • Collaborates closely with the Director of Development, the Development Operations team, and cross-functional teams.
  • Serves as a resource for fundraisers and program leaders.
  • Helps manage complex calendars, communications, and special projects.
  • Supports the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Manages data, tracks activities, schedules meetings, drafts correspondences and materials.
  • Assists with the planning and logistics of travel, events and retreats.
  • Provides program information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works with vendors and pays invoices.
  • Prepares briefings and donor and partner research.
  • Utilizes fundraising systems (such as Blackbaud’s CRM) to maintain information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track progress on key initiatives.
  • Applies established processes and practices to improve team effectiveness and ensure smooth operations.
  • Performs administrative functions and support for special projects as required.
  • Assists in database maintenance.
  • May supervise volunteers, interns, or temporary staff.
  • Serves as a team member for assigned projects.
