About The Position

The Communications Specialist supports institutional development and community engagement efforts through a variety of writing and editing projects. In collaboration with leadership and other partners, the Communications Specialist plans and implements multi-media communication strategies including: proposal writing, stewardship reporting, campaign writing, copywriting for event invitations and collateral, remarks for key executives and Board members, in addition to general writing assignments for various program purposes/audiences. Contributes content to communication materials for education programs, websites, publications, blog posts, and patient stories. Handles implementation of communication materials for special projects and events. Collaborates cross-functionally with internal and external partners to meet department and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public health, marketing, public relations, media relations or another relevant major is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience writing, editing, delivering in-depth content, project management or related communications experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Writes, edits, and publishes content for internal and external customers to support specific programs, projects, and events.
  • Develops communication plans; coordinates the production of communication materials, collaterals, proposals, etc.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with cross-functional partners to effectively plan and implement appropriate communications support.
  • Manages projects from development to completion; creates project production schedules and timelines; manages project budgets and invoices, including check requests and invoice payments, as necessary.
  • Helps to maintain a master development communications drop calendar and collateral archive.
  • Submits project tickets, including but not limited to mailing list requests and email inquiries, through a project management system (e.g., Asana).
  • Executes on a variety of projects for development initiatives to support the department's fundraising and campaign goals via various mediums (e.g., print, digital, and web).
