About The Position

The University of Alabama is seeking applications for a position in Advancement, considering candidates for both Associate Director and Director of Development roles. This position will support the Vice President for Student Life by securing major gifts that align with the Division of Student Life’s strategic priorities. The role involves providing philanthropic expertise and requesting assistance from the VP for Student Life, executive-level leaders, and departmental leaders within Student Life to ensure specific stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation needs are met. The position reports to the Office of Development and the Division of Student Life.

Requirements

  • Development Associate Director: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of development, fundraising, sales, communications and/or public relations experience; OR master's degree and some development, fundraising, sales, communications and/or public relations experience.
  • Development Director: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of development, fundraising, sales, communications and/or public relations experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of development, fundraising, sales, communications and/or public relations experience.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
  • Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
  • Good public relations and verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer for word processing and standard software packages.
  • Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Vice President for Student Life by securing major gifts that align with the Division of Student Life’s strategic priorities.
  • Provide philanthropic expertise when requesting assistance from the VP for Student Life, Student Life executive level leaders and Student Life departmental leaders to ensure specific stewardship, cultivation and solicitation needs are fulfilled as required.
